DATE: June 16, 2018 Florida Chapter, Mystery Writers of America Luncheon Meeting
PROGRAM: The Devilish Art of Writing Short Stories

Elaine VietsProgram: Are short stories harder to write than novels? How many characters should you have in your short stories? What are editors looking for when they buy them? Award-winning author Elaine Viets will discuss how to write award-winning short stories, and how they can improve your novel writing.

Speaker: Elaine Viets’s new A Deal with the Devil and 13 Short Stories was called “a stunning collection of short stories” by reviewer Cindy Chow. Elaine has 33 enormously popular bestselling mysteries in four series: hardboiled Francesca Vierling, traditional Dead-End Job, cozy Josie Marcus Mystery Shopper, and Angela Richman, Death Investigator. Elaine, a St. Louis native, took the Medicolegal Death Investigator Training Course for forensic professionals at St. Louis University. She’s won the Agatha, Anthony and Lefty Awards. www.elaineviets.com
