About Mystery Writers of America, Florida Chapter

FMWA is an organization of published and aspiring authors, booksellers, readers, and other industry professionals pursuing a career in or with an interest in crime fiction.

Monthly Meetings

Our Monthly Meetings feature dynamic speakers and networking opportunities with fellow authors, reviewers, and booksellers. We invite experts to keep us up to date on forensic topics, marketing skills and writing-related subjects.

Sleuthfest

SleuthFest is our annual conference. SleuthFest has garnered a reputation as one of the premier mystery writers’ conferences in the country. Click here for more information about SleuthFest.

Critique Groups

FMWA critique groups are a benefit open to all members regardless of their publishing status. The program’s purpose is to help members become more effective and more professional writers. The only requirements to join other than current FMWA membership are:

1) Be actively writing crime/mystery fiction or non-fiction with a goal of publication

2) Be an active participant in the group both by submitting your own work and reading other ‘ submissions and offering critiques on the same.

The critique groups are moderated by experienced FMWA members (multi-published traditional authors and/or writing instructors or editors). Groups will meet virtually (online) for the foreseeable future.

Book Fairs & Festivals

We participate in book festivals and hold meetings for members around the state. To learn more about upcoming dates, visit our Events page.

Newsletter

Our monthly newsletter, The Rap Sheet, is an excellent source of news and insights.

Advice & Guidance

Our members participate in a dynamic online forum and are available to mentor other members needing advice and guidance.
